The goal of this program is to help parents learn about teen driving safety and become aware of the real reasons (which are usually preventable) as to why teen crash rates are so high. Did you Continue Reading…

Local Teen Driving Safety and Drawing To Win A Car!!

Thank you to the Allstate Foundation and National Safety Council for sponsoring this post. Check out Drive it Home, a website by and for parents, dedicated to keeping our teen drivers safe. In the next couple months our oldest will be starting drivers training. I can say it will be nice to have another driver around the house, but really scares me. I am not looking forward to sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle that my daughter is driving. Not that I wouldn’t trust her driving but if you look at pictures I took of her driving a Continue Reading…

High School Geometry

High School Math is a subject that I have been dreading to teach my kids, I do not care for math nor was I ever good at math past the elementary level, I can do it it just takes me longer. Jake is the one that Loves math, you give him just about any problem and within minutes he will tell you the answer! With how much Serena does not like math and for how hard it is for her to understand the math, it has been difficult finding a math curriculum to use that works for her. So when given Continue Reading…

Review: Wealthy Quest For Teens

With the fact that many people overlook teaching their children how to be responsible with their money, it is such an important skill for teens to learn before they are expected to manage their money once they leave the house. It is our job as parents to equip our children with the skills and attitudes with money, half of all teens express interest in learning about money, but yet only 24% of parents discuss money management and banking with them. So when given the opportunity to review Wealth Quest for Teens Ltd. I was very excited about using this program Continue Reading…

Review: Math 911

Math is the subject, I just do not like teaching the kids probably because I have just never been good at it. My husband has always been the one that helps the kids with the math that I just don’t understand because he is a whiz at it!  With the fact that some of my boys get so frustrated at math, I am always on the look out for a good math program that might make that struggle out of math, and Math911 has proven to be a valuable resource!! Math 911 is a program developed by Dr. Wiseman after Continue Reading…

Today I will be announcing our curriculum choices for the upcoming year. We have had many experiences with different homeschool curriculums in the past, and for now we have found ones that fit our learning styles at this season in our lives, I’m sure we will be making changes to some of our curriculum as the year goes on, and I will update this post as those changes occur. Review: Math Essentials: No-Nonsense Algebra/Geometry

Math Essentials: Math Essentials was developed by Rick Fisher, math instructor in San Jose, California school district while teaching 5/6th graders. Each year about 1/2 of his math students were able to skip 7th grade math and move onto 8 grade high powered Algebra Programs. After seeing these results Rick designed these books for elementary, middle school, and even high school students. Many students made several grade level improvements after using this program! This is an easy to follow, step by step program, requiring only 20 minutes of work a day!   Math Essentials America’s Math Teacher DVD Series: Series Continue Reading…
