Our Halloween Ideas For Kids #Halloween

For the last couple of weeks we have been doing some misc Halloween fun through out some of our days and have also added some new Halloween work to the little boys shelf in our school room. I am doing things differently this year with our trays instead of adding many new trays each week, I am choosing a few of them and adding them to our shelves and only changing the other activities once or twice a month. Making these changes has helped me be more accountable for getting the trays out and putting the stuff away, as well Continue Reading…

Organic Vegetables ~ Garden Update

Well since we are working our way through the summer so fast and before we know it summer will be over, I figured it was about time to give an update on our Organic Vegetables Garden that we planted this year. Everything we planted was done with help of the kids. Involving children in planting and harvesting a garden gives them important skills that they can use later on in life and will make some wonderful memories together as a family that will be remembered for many years!! Our summer has been a very cold one and we have not Continue Reading…

The Beauty Of The Snow

Winter came late for us this year, by the end of December we had maybe received 3″ of snow! Well we are making up for it now, the first day of spring we got a snow storm. There are no days that will get above 40′ for the next 10 day. I don’t mind winter but I would be very happy if it would just warm up. TONS of Praying Mantis Babies!!

During the summer Dustin becomes very interested in the insects found around our yard. Praying Mantises are his favorite. The last 2 years we have had the joy of watching a couple of the praying mantis lay their egg sacks, last year I told him he needed to find a safe spot in the garden outside to put the egg so it will hatch in the spring. So he put the eggs outside and the next day it was gone, something had eaten the eggs and he was so sad. So this year I allowed him to preserve the eggs Continue Reading…

Easy DIY Montessori Number Rods

One of the things that has been on my “to do” list for quite some time was to finish making our Montessori Number Rods. I had decided that the number rods would be one of the easier materials to make ourselves and could be made for a considerable amount less then they sell them for on Montessori Online stores. This past weekend I finally had Jake finish cutting the wood so we could get them finished and start the Montessori Math Sequence with Gabriel! I looked around the internet for tutorials so I could get some ideas for measurements. I found that Continue Reading…
