Our Homeschool Library and Where To Find Cheap Books

So I have already given you a tour of where we do our school each day, and a look into what curriculum we use in our homeschool. Today I am going to give you a look into our homeschool library. I have to admit that this is one area I have a little bit of an obsession  ;-) ! You see I cannot pass up a good book, especially when it is really cheap. Since there are so many good books out there we own a ton of books in our homeschool library. Our Homeschool Library Our books are split … [Read more...]

Absolutely wonderful, unique, and mobile Lego storage idea

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's kids love Lego bricks and who struggles finding room for Lego storage. With all the gifts that come every year with 6 kids we have accumulated many, many Lego sets over the years. For a couple years some of the kids have asked for ONLY Lego's for Christmas and birthdays. While we are very picky with what toys come into the house, Lego sets are something that get used over and over almost daily they are played with many hours every week. They are … [Read more...]

Great Homeschool Organization and Storage Ideas

It has been a couple years since we have shared what our homeschool room looks like. The reason for this is that, even though we have an area in our basement that we can devote to a school room, we never use it. At this time the kids sit at the kitchen table or on the couch. Serena does school up in her room, away from the noise of us teaching younger ones using hands on methods. Since we decided to no longer do school in our school room, it has since then turned into a homeschool storage … [Read more...]

How We Store our Monthly Food

As I stated the other day I am going to give you a look into just how we store a months worth of food for 8 people. Like I also stated before we do things differently this time of year because we do not get our fruits and veggies from the farmers market anymore which means there is a lot more things in my freezer then normal. We also freeze strawberry jam and cut strawberries every year which equals about 100lbs of strawberries we prepare. We freeze corn and zucchini as well so our freezers are … [Read more...]

How We Organize Our Preschool Curriculum

This month the Mother Goose Time Ambassadors are talking about how we organize our Mother Goose Time Curriculum. I will have to admit that this is only our Second month using the curriculum, and the first month I just worked right out of the box. While it would be ok to just work out of the box and pull out the daily bag with everything in it, I just need to have everything organized and easy to find. With the fact that I have 6 kids we teach in our house, I have to keep everything pretty … [Read more...]

Luke’s Life List

We have been given Luke's Life List and Luke's School List to review from the Schoolhouse Review Crew from Joyce Hertzog. Joyce Hertzog offers many helps for parents and teachers. Both Luke's Life List and Luke's School List have been such an extensive and wonderful way to keep track of each of the individual learning and life journey for each of our children. I am a parent/teacher that believes each of my children are special and God has given them talents in life and it is my job as their … [Read more...]

Homeschool Organization Bliss

This past weekend I spent quite a bit of time down stairs reorganizing a lot of our school stuff.  Homeschool organization and keeping track of everything we have with 6 kids, ages ranging from 2 all the way up to 13, and after 6 years of homeschooling can be quite challenging. I have changed the way we store our school things many times, but I have to say I think it will stay this way for a while it is so nice to have everything stored in 1 room! I figured I would share my OCD storage with you … [Read more...]

Ikea Reading Nook For Kids

Our Special Reading Nook for Kids We made our first trip out to Ikea about a month ago, its a 2 1/2 hour drive, so I have been planning and saving for this trip for a while! One of the things I wanted to have upstairs with all of the school stuff now being down stairs is a reading nook. We put it in one of the corners in the living room, and it has been getting lots of use. In the cups I have an eraser and chalk (for the chalk board in the living room) and the other one I am rotating with … [Read more...]

Our New Montessori Homeschool Classroom (part 1)

Our New Montessori Homeschool Classroom We are not completly done with the new Montessori homeschool classroom for the year, but I figured everything is where it belongs for the most part, so I figured I would share. To the right of the entry door into the room, there are 2 book shelves in an L shape with a table (old train table)  in the middle for the kids to have a close table to work at if they choose. The first book shelf is the Math shelf:  The top shelf: has an ocean … [Read more...]

Organization Projects Underway!

We finally have begun the process of reorganizing some of the spaces in our house, we plan on moving the playroom back upstairs and having the toys all organized with an Ikea Trofast system, the school room and all school item will be moved from all over the house to only in the basement. The dining room table has served us well for 5 years, but its time for a change. There are few of the reasons I chose to start this project:1. Make things run more efficient and easier to find, with 6 kids and … [Read more...]
