Our Homeschool Library and Where To Find Cheap Books

So I have already given you a tour of where we do our school each day, and a look into what curriculum we use in our homeschool. Today I am going to give you a look into our homeschool library. I have to admit that this is one area I have a little bit of an obsession  ;-) ! You see I cannot pass up a good book, especially when it is really cheap. Since there are so many good books out there we own a ton of books in our homeschool library. Our Homeschool Library Our books are split … [Read more...]

Great Homeschool Organization and Storage Ideas

It has been a couple years since we have shared what our homeschool room looks like. The reason for this is that, even though we have an area in our basement that we can devote to a school room, we never use it. At this time the kids sit at the kitchen table or on the couch. Serena does school up in her room, away from the noise of us teaching younger ones using hands on methods. Since we decided to no longer do school in our school room, it has since then turned into a homeschool storage … [Read more...]

Educational Playful Circle Time Activities for Energetic Kids

This year in our Mother Goose Time curriculum, we have done our circle time activities differently then we did last year. This year we put our circle time activities onto a poster board, as this is what Mother Goose Time recommended. This has been really helpful to keep our circle time activities easy to store away when not in use, and super easy to pull it out when we need them. You could adapt this to any morning time activities from free printables found online. While almost all of our … [Read more...]

Light Table Activity

One of this months manipulatives in our Mother Goose Time curriculum was these translucent shapes. We have used them in quite a few different ways through out the month one of the kids favorite ways was using them for a light table activity. Each month Mother Goose Time sends some really amazingly wonderful manipulatives every month with their curriculum. This month was no exception, they included some translucent shape blocks. Our New Schoolroom

I have been really struggling with how to set up our school room in a way that would stop the little boys from causing big messes every time they would go down  to play. We have changed our room around 2 different times both ways just not working good for us. So this time I decided that I needed to really think about what was causing us so many probles with our previous designs... What I came up with was to put as much of my school stuff back onto storage shelves or some where the little ones … [Read more...]

Our Homeschool School Room!

As I have mentioned a few times in the last couple weeks, I have been making some changes to our school room. My plan was to cut our school room down by half and have the other half be an area be our "sensory room." Slowly but surely this project has come along, and last week we were able to do school down in our homeschool school room again! Here is a snapshot of what our room looked like before, It was great to have a big open area for the kids, but it was also very inticing for the little … [Read more...]

Homeschool Organization ~ Themed Storage With Free Printable Labels

I seen THIS homeschool organization post by Carissa a couple weeks ago, and I fell in love with the way she organized her themed materials. I had originally planned on just filing my themed items into the file cabinet I have under my desk in the school room, but for some reason they don't seem to ever get filed, and the papers just kept piling up for me to file. After seeing her post I decided that I was going to change the way I planned on storing my themed materials and store them similar to … [Read more...]

Ikea Reading Nook For Kids

Our Special Reading Nook for Kids We made our first trip out to Ikea about a month ago, its a 2 1/2 hour drive, so I have been planning and saving for this trip for a while! One of the things I wanted to have upstairs with all of the school stuff now being down stairs is a reading nook. We put it in one of the corners in the living room, and it has been getting lots of use. In the cups I have an eraser and chalk (for the chalk board in the living room) and the other one I am rotating with … [Read more...]

Our New Montessori Homeschool Classroom (part 1)

Our New Montessori Homeschool Classroom We are not completly done with the new Montessori homeschool classroom for the year, but I figured everything is where it belongs for the most part, so I figured I would share. To the right of the entry door into the room, there are 2 book shelves in an L shape with a table (old train table)  in the middle for the kids to have a close table to work at if they choose. The first book shelf is the Math shelf:  The top shelf: has an ocean … [Read more...]
