Last week I received an email telling me that on Saturday it was National Train Day. I had never heard of National Train Day, so I decided to look into it. What it means is that lots of the local train stations were having a celebration for train transportation and had some fun activities for kids, as well as 50% off tickets for Amtrack on that day. With Gabe being a HUGE train fan, I figured this would be a perfect outing for him and Ethan. It started at 6am on a Saturday and all the rest of the kids chose to stay home and sleep in instead. Jake and myself had a great time spending the morning with just the 2 little boys!
They had coffee, water and donuts for the kids. As you can see Gabe in not a morning person like most of us in the house he looks half awake, Ethan on the other hand is up every morning between 5 & 6 so even trying to get a picture of him not moving was interesting.
They had all kinds of books, stickers, activity books, and other goodies for the kids to take home.
Gabe showing off his conductor hat, he was very proud of it!!
Gabe showing daddy all of the different types of Chuggington trains.
After the Amtrack Train left, the Railroad police officer (who was there helping on his day off) was so wonderful he took us on a tour of the local train yard. The boys were in heaven!!
Here is the area they pull trains into and repair or work them.
He took us around just some of the train yard, here is a very old boxcar that was in the yard.
An eagles nest on one of the pillars.
Another picture of all 4 of us.
We all had a wonderful time, and felt very blessed that someone would take the time out of their day to show us around the train yard, it is not something the boys will soon forget.
Linking up with these great linky parties.
