Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

This year I am participating in The Ultimate Blog Party, it is starts just after midnight tonight April 5, and is open through April 12. The Ultimate Blog Party is the ultimate place to meet new friends! This is their 7th year now, not only is it a great way to meet other bloggers, and it also is a great way to help others find your blog. This year they have over $10,000 in prizes to giveaway, and are giving a $100 gift card to 1 person that links up in each of the categories!

All you have to do to enter your blog is make up an introductory post, so the new blog hoppers can get to know you and your family, then link up your blog and look around for some new blogs to follow. I hope you will join in on this great blog party!!

A Little Bit About Us:

I’m Nicole first and foremost, a daughter of christ, I have been married to my best friend Jake for 13 years now, we have 6 blessings 5 boys and 1 girl that are all homeschooled. We have Serena 14, Dustin 13, Cody 11, Anthony 9, Ethan 5, Gabriel 3. I feel very blessed that the lord has chosen us to be parents to our 6 children, I have learned so much and grown to be such a better person from raising our children!

This is me!

Here is a family picture take last summer.

We work hard to keep our kids as screen free as possible, and have not had cable for over 2 years now… I know… We do have Netflix and now Amazon Prime the kids can watch shows and videos from, but I am VERY picky on what they are allowed to watch and feel that cable has some pretty nasty things that I do not even want brought into our house. They are allowed to watch TV and use the computers for a limited time each day and only with close adult supervision.

When the weather is warmer we love to go on nature walks and do go at least weekly. We regularly visit the local nature centers, nature preserves, and nature trails with the kids. This is not only a great way for us to learn but also a great way to keep 5 boys active and usually for free! We also go on many different field trips so the kids get a first hand look at what we are learning about, along with doing many crafts, art, lapbooks, unit studies, and hands on projects to understand what we are learning about in school and do lots of reading together and individually!

I started this blog as a way to write down and share our journey through homeschooling and raising our  family, and to be able to have something to look back at later. It has since turned as an outlet for all kinds of our hands on learning fun ideas, parenting tips, money saving ideas, reviews, giveaways, Kids Activities, Arts & Crafts Ideas for kids, sensory bin ideas, DIY projects, and so much more!

A little about our children, and a picture of each of them.

Serena 14 ~ Our only girl, and the oldest. Her favorite thing to do is read and learn about history! She
loves writing books as well.

Dustin 13 ~ Oldest boy who is very hyper! He loves to fix things by taking them apart, even if they were not broken to begin with….
Cody 11 ~  He is my very quiet kiddo and would rather keep to himself. He loves programing computer games and apps.

Anthony 9 ~ He is the one that likes to make everyone laugh, he is a great helper and such an awesome big brother.

Ethan 5 ~ He is the boy with the most energy, and is on the go from the time he wakes up till the time he goes to bed! His favorite thing to do is climb things!!

Gabriel 3 ~  He is so good at manners and such a lovey boy, and loves Thomas the Train so much he talks with an accent and tells me that I make him cross when he is mad at me 🙂

Here is a list of our top 10 all time viewers favorite posts:

  1. Stopping by from the party. Great pics of all your kids. 🙂 I love finding free activities around the area too. We’re actually going to a local nature center with a hiking trail this Saturday that my kids are excited about. Fingers crossed for no rain! lol

  2. What a sweet family and you sound like an amazing mom! I cannot imagine having 6 kids… but you sure sound like you’re handling it perfectly.

I love the little descriptions you gave of each child. They all sound so unique and special.

  3. Beautiful family.. and 5 boys? Wow! I have 5 kiddos myself.. 3 boys and 2 girls. I think it’s awesome that you homeschool them all. Nice to meet you and see you around the party!

  5. Aloha,

Stopping by to say “hi” and get to know you better from the UBP. You know we’ve just started our homeschooling journey here in Maui and I am so encouraged by the great work you and other mamas are doing. Thank you. I can’t wait to make a cup of coffee and have a good long sit in this space of yours.

If you’re up for a visit I’d love to see ya at Local Sugar Hawaii, we’re riding the wave of life together, one silly adventure at a time.

    xo,
    Nicole

  6. You have such a gorgeous family! I always thought it would be neat to have a big one, but fate intervened. I’m hoping my little brother ends up with a huge family so my son at least has a lot of cousins.
