One of the things that I think many homeschool moms struggle with when using a complete curriculum, is choices. Where as most of the programs out there you get set books to use all you have to do is choose your level or grade. While this was nice during the very early years of homeschooling, most of us would rather have at least some curriculum choices.
In the last 12 years of homeschooling our 6 blessings I have rearealised something very important. It is that the way 1 child learns is NOT the way the next one will learn sometimes not even close. Each child is so different and they all have their own learning styles. So saying that I am going to use the same curriculum with one child that I used with the last isn’t always going to work out.
Now in the perfect world in my mind during the beginning of our homeschool journey, I would have said it would work great. Back then I decided that all of our kids would use the same curriculum that I choose and it was as simple as that. Oh, how I have grown and learned over the years.
What Curriculum Choices Does Sonlight Offer?
When we started using Sonlight I assumed they offered 1 math program for everyone, 1 handwriting program, etc. Little did I know they understand that every child learns differently! They realize every parent doesn’t want to use the same curriculum. They actually listen to parents and what we like. We like our choices.
Head over HERE to make the different choices needed to make your own complete kit. Once you add all the components of an all subject kit you will still automatically get the 20% off of your order. Here is a look at all the subjects that Sonlight offers parents choices on, along with the different programs that they offer for you to choose from.
Sonlight offers MANY different math programs for parents to choose from. I think they actually offer almost every single major math program out there. Here is the list of different programs they offer.
- Teaching Textbooks
- Horizons Math
- Singapore Math
- Saxon Math
- Miquon Math
Language Arts Curriculum Choices
There are 5 different subjects within the Language arts umbrella of classes. They are spelling, vocabulary, handwriting, phonics, and grammar. Sonlight offers choices for spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting. The other 2 subjects are Sonlight curriculum, so they have put together everything you need for the class.
We have used All About Spelling in the past and LOVE this program, we decided to give Spelling You See a try this year and see how we like it. We have used Math-U-See for years and LOVE that program. So I have a feeling we may fall in love with Spelling you See as well.

With vocabulary, kids can learn a ton of it from all the literature that comes along with Sonlight. Reading the vocab words in context is an amazing way to teach vocab. For those parents who want a little more vocab practice, they, of course, offer quite an assortment of different programs.
- Wordly Wise
- Vocabulary From Classical Roots
- Vocabulary Vine
- Word Power Made Easy
There are 2 different handwriting programs that we use in our house. The first one we use is Handwriting Without Tears that we use to teach the kids handwriting both manuscript and print. The other one is A Reason For Handwriting that we use to work on handwriting. Both of these handwriting programs are available over at Sonlight when purchasing your curriculum they even offer another choice for those who want it.

Not only do they offer choices in the different core subjects. They also offer many different supplements for both elective classes for grades K-8 and elective classes for High School. You can even get classes even for the students who just need a little extra help in any particular subject. They really have left no stone unturned when it comes to making sure parents have anything they need.
Really when you look at the variety of different choices that are offered in Sonlight All Subject Kits it is quite extensive. They offer many of the top curriculum’s that most parents use in their homeschools already. So it makes it super easy to use an All Subject Kit without having to start over or disrupt your child’s learning.
