Happy Earth Day!! Today I have a great product to introduce to you that is made using sustainable materials and the proceeds help to conserve water in the Colorado River. It is a perfect product to share with you on this Earth Day.

My first experience with Chapul was on Shark Tank. Honestly I kind of thought it sounded disgusting to eat energy bars that were made with cricket flour. On that episode of Shark Tank, Mark Cuban signed a deal with the company, because he believed in their product. Since the show they have redesigned the packaging of their product and gained many loyal customers. Now they are adding a couple new products to their line, they are protein flour itself so that others can make their own products using this very high protein sustainable products, as well as protein powder.

All of the products made at Chapul perfect for those looking for natural NON-GMO food. They are perfect for people with gluten allergies, soy-free products, looking for high protein products, or people looking for products that are looking to conserve our worlds resources.

Crickets are a complete protein with twice the protein of beef, per gram. They are rick in mega-3 acids, and have 15% more iron than spinach and as much vitamin B12 as salmon. The bars are made of cricket flour, 70% organic, all-natural ingredients: Medjool dates, nuts, ginger, coconut, flax seed, & sea salt.

You can find their products in over 500 stores nationwide including bot natural and conventional grocers. They can be found in Sprouts, Natural Grocer and coming soon to Public. The Chapul line in available online with delivery directly to your front door as well.

My kids first told me they were not going to try anything with crickets in them, but after seeing them they most of them decided to give them a try. Everyone said they really aren’t that bad at all, I did get a comment on the one with Cayenne pepper that it is pretty spicy, as you would expect from anything with cayenne pepper in it. Crickets have a mild nutty taste, and really do not taste bad. One of my kids is in love with these protein bars, and eats one every day saying I don’t care if they have crickets in them they are just really good!
