Supplies Needed:

DIY Glowing Nightlight For Kids

  • Tonic Water
  • A Jar
  • Green Glow in the Dark Powder
  • Optional: A blacklight

 

Directions:

DIY Glowing Nightlight For Kids

  • Fill a jar with tonic water.

    DIY Glowing Nightlight For Kids

  • Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of glow in the dark powder to the tonic water.

  • Shake or stir to dissolve the powder.

  • Allow to ‘charge’ in direct sunlight or shine a black light on the jar to watch it glow!

  • You could omit the powder if you have a blacklight, as tonic water will naturally glow in the dark. I used pink glow in the dark powder to offer a fun green glow when the lights are turned off!

  • The Quinine in tonic water has properties that are sensitive to ultraviolet light, which gives off a great bluish glow naturally.

Alternate Option:

  • Tonic Water
  • A Neon Highlighter
  • A jar
  • Optional: A Black Light

 

Alternate Instructions:

  • Fill a jar with tonic water.
  • Take a Highlighter apart so that the ink tube is out of the marker,
  • Add it to the tonic water
  • Shake or stir to dissolve the color.
