Our theme this month for our Mother Goose Time curriculum is feelings and friends. I have already shared our friendship activities we have done so far. Today I am going over a fun feelings shape game that the boys enjoyed. One of the older boys even decided to join in on the fun with the boys.
All of the materials to complete this activity were included with our Mother Goose Time Curriculum. One of this months manipulatives that were used for this activity was tangrams. They have been used multiple times in different lessons and activities through out the month. We also had a printout that included the label for the included blue sandwich bag, as well as 1 card stock printout of each of the shapes with a feeling on the front of it. The boys used pencils and white paper we had to make the shapes into whatever they drew from the bag.
First off they would draw one of the cutout shapes with a feeling from the bag.
Next they would find the same shape in the tangrams. There are different sizes of each shape, so they got to choose what size shape they wanted.
Lastly they would trace it onto their paper where ever they choose and we would talk about what things they or others could do that would make them have that feeling.
Ethan said he was making a dinosaur.
As you can see here, even Anthony decided to join in on the tracing fun with the boys.
I love that Mother Goose Time offers fun hands on ways for the kids to learn about different topics and integrates different subjects into 1 activity.
