As a busy family, it’s hard to find healthy eating tips for families that are always on the go. Trust me, I’ve looked. This is why I decided to go ahead and create my own healthy eating tips that I can’t wait to share with all of you!
You know what I mean when I say that there just isn’t enough time in the day, right? I know we all get the same 24 hours, but I swear that mine must round up or something. Seriously. I just can’t seem to find the seconds or minutes to get things done…and cooking healthy snacks is one of them!
The good news? We can all overcome the rat race and feeling like we are behind. With these healthy eating tips for families on the go, it’s one less thing that you have to worry about each and every day!

Plan out your snacks for the week in one day
I know, I know…sounds a bit crazy, right? Think of it like meal-planning but on a smaller scale. The good news about snacks? They’re smaller in size! If you can take a few extra moments one day per week and plan, you’ll save yourself time in the long run!
Eliminate the processed snacks from your house
While it’s tempting to eat those processed snacks…just don’t! They are full of chemicals and ingredients that you don’t even know. (and half the time can’t even pronounce!) And did you know that as long as you have them in the house, your kids will eat them “just because”? (we’re all guilty of that, right?!)
Instead, fill your cupboards with organic snacks and bars that taste great and provide actual benefits to your children. I like to keep a fruit bowl on the table stocked full of fresh fruit, apples, and bananas as well because I’ll never tell my kids “no” to eating fruit as a snack.
Plus, the great thing about having fruit as a healthy snack is that they are easy to grab and go! Just have them already washed and waiting and anyone can easily grab an apple, banana or pear as they walk out the door!
Keep a snack pack in your car at all times
One of the reasons that busy families on the go tend to grab things that aren’t good for them is because they aren’t prepared. How many times have you been driving down the road and had your children screaming for the backseat that they’re hungry? It’s not uncommon, right? Then, the following move on your part is more than likely to get them something to eat and fast.
Unfortunately, this means that you’re pulling into a fast food place or grabbing anything you can from the drive through…and those options aren’t healthy.
Eliminate this by having a snack pack full of healthy options in your car. Keep items in your car that don’t need to be kept hot or cold. Fruits, granola and nut bars and other organic or natural packaged snacks are all great snack ideas to have in your car. We also love to have nuts to snack on as well!
With these simple healthy eating tips for families on the go, you can rest easy knowing that you are giving your family the proper snacks with ease.
And if you feel like you’re running out of steam keeping up with the planning, recruit your kiddos to help! You’ll be surprised at how happy they’ll be to get to choose some of their own healthy treats!
