Some people make homemade ice cream as a topper to other desserts but in our house, it’s a reason to celebrate all on its own. I just love how creamy and sweet true ice cream is when it doesn’t have all those fillers and extra ingredients added in.

Homemade Ice Cream

The beauty of having homemade ice cream is that it takes on a whole new flavor. We use to buy our ice cream at the store but then one day I realized how simple it was to make right at home.

I can’t really describe the texture of homemade ice cream as perfectly as I want…but I can tell you that it’s creamy and cold and will have you scraping the bowl in hopes of getting just one more simple taste.

Since this ice cream recipe does have to chill for 8 hours, this isn’t an instant way to get this delicious dessert. BUT, I can promise you that it’s totally worth the wait.

Just make it up right before you’re heading to bed so that when you get up in the morning, it will be nice and cold and ready to enjoy. Because sometimes, don’t we all deserve to have ice cream for breakfast?

Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 8 hours

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 14-ounce can sweeten condensed milk
  • 1 packet mixed berry Kool-Aide
  • 1 packet cherry Kool-Aide

Instructions:

1.Pour the heavy whipping cream into the bowl of a stand mixer. Whip the cream on medium-high speed until thickened and soft peaks begin to form.

2. Continue beating while adding the sweetened condensed milk in a steady stream. Beat just until stiff peaks begin to form, being careful not to over mix.

3. Separate the cream mixture evenly into two bowls. Add the mixed berry Kool-Aid to one bowl and the cherry Kool-Aid to the other bowl. Fold the Kool-Aid into the cream mixture until well combined.

4. Spoon the cream mixtures into a freezer-safe container, alternating between red and blue. After all the ice cream has been added to the container, use a knife to swirl the two colors together.

5. Place a lid on the container or cover tightly with plastic wrap and freeze for six to eight hours. When ready to serve, allow the container to sit at room temperature for five to 10 minutes to soften the ice cream, making it easier to scoop.

6. Enjoy!!
