This simple to make kids craft was a hit this month with our Mother Goose Time Curriculum!! These grass hats were not only simple to make but were so much fun to play with too.
Supplies Needed for Grass Hat Kids Craft
- Green Construction Paper
- Bug Stickers ~ (ours came in our curriculum, these are some similar ones on Amazon)
We started out cutting the green paper strips in half to make sure we would have enough to fit on the kids heads. Then they used their scissors to cut along the top to look like grass.
Once they had finished cutting out their “grass” they added their but stickers around their grass. It looked like bugs that you would find hiding in the grass. We added a little twist into it and had the boys name each of the bugs they added to their craft, adding a little language into our activity.
Putting the stickers onto the crowns was great fine motor practice. Ethan decided to add all of his bugs.
Gabe decided to add lines of bugs and only use certain insects on his crown.
We used the stapler to connect the strips of paper. Ethan needed to use 4 strips to get it to fit around his head, Gabe only needed to add 3.
Gabe had a great time adding stickers to his face and just laughing. He is such a happy kid!!
Their finished grass crown kids craft idea. They have loved them so much they wore them around the house for days!
