If you’re looking for a simple and hearty meal, you’ve arrived at the right place! This Instant Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni is one meal that has my kiddos running and sprinting towards the dinner table each and every time.

I often wonder how in the world I ever got dinner on the table before the invention of the Instant Pot..but those times are blurry in my brain. LOL. Now, thankfully, my Instant Pot is such a handy helper in the kitchen and all my dishes and recipes come out perfectly as well.

What I love most about this simple macaroni recipe is that I don’t have to worry about overcooking the noodles. (Classic mom fail on my part!) The Instant Pot cooks this dish to perfection and the kids know that it’s a recipe that they’re going to love.

Instant Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni

When I told my kids that I was going to be combining two of their favorite foods of cheeseburgers and macaroni, it’s safe to say that they were beyond excited to make it happen.

And while I didn’t know the “exact” outcome of this recipe the first time that I made it, I knew that my handy dandy Instant Pot wasn’t going to let me down. Luckily, the combination of ground beef, lots of cheese, noodles, and spices created creamy and cheesy goodness that was an instant success.

In fact, it’s so popular in my house that it’s on our meal planning menu at least two times per month. But the extra added bonus of this Instant Pot recipe is that it takes just 15 minutes to make!

I love having the extra time to finish prepping the rest of our meal and it gives the kids a doable time to wait since they’re always starving and asking for food! Once they pile this recipe into their bowls, it’s the most silence that I hear for the day because they’re so immersed in all the delicious bites!

Makes: 8 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Green onion for garnish

Instructions:

1.Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add the ground beef and onion. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Sauté until beef is browned.

2. Turn off the Instant Pot and add the Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste. Stir to combine.

3. Add the beef broth and water. Use a wooden spoon to scrape the bottom of the pan to remove stuck-on food.

4. Add the macaroni and stir to combine. Make sure all the noodles are covered with liquid, then place the lid on the Instant pot and seal the vent.

5. Set the Instant Pot to pressure cook for 5 minutes. When the cooking time is up, do a quick release and remove the lid.

6. Add both cheeses and stir until the cheese is melted and well combined.

7. Serve topped with green onion, if desired.
