I have been sharing our Iowa Vacation For Kids, in part 1 I shared the 6 hour road trip to Iowa with 6 kids and the beautiful wedding we attended, for part 2 I shared the wonderful hotel we stayed in, today I am going to share the amazing children’s museum we visited.
Today I am going to share Day 3 to our 3 part series, Our trip to the Family Museum in Bettendorf Iowa. Now we have been to many great children’s museums in the past 14 years, but I will have to say that this is at the top of my list of children’s museums my kids could have stayed there for a week and been happy :-P!!
This museum is set up in 1 huge room with different areas they have a store, pet store, vet, post office, farm, pizza parlor, and more. The kids only got a chance to explore some of the areas because it is such a big place with many things to do!!
Here is the picture I shared on Instagram during our visit!
Here is what you see when you first walk into the museum.
The fire station was the first place the boys went, they also found out that they have a real working phone system in the museum to talk to other kids in different areas.
There was a big bridge for the kids to so across, which Gabe loved bringing the shopping cart from the store across!!
They had an area set up for the kids to trace their own bridges.
They have a huge water area set up, with many fun things to do.
The kids could move the clear walls and direct the water to different areas!
They had a water table area set up for the little kids, which of course Ethan found and loved!
Even though we have tons of train tracks at home Gabe spent quite a while playing with the train sets out!
All of the boys loved the crane they could use to move foam blocks while learning construction signals.
Serena enjoyed learning morse code and trying it out! I was glad they had some fun things for the older kids to do as well!!
Because Iowa is known for farming they had a huge area set up like a farm.
They had everything from an egg belt that went into the store to be put into cartons in the fridge.
The kids could fill the cans with vegetables that were found on the farm just like they do with the cans found in the store.
A real John Deer tractor to ride in.
You can see the tractor hidden in the corner, you can see the corn going up the belt to be canned.
They can fill the silo up with corn.
They even had a real working intercom system, even Jake had fun with 😀 !
The intercom went into the tractor.
They also had a pizza parlor which the kids loved. The oven that the kids put the pizzas into would light up red like it was really on and spray out pizza smell so it would even smell like pizza wow!!
Outside the Pizza parlor they had a dining room set up for people to be served and eat their pizza!!
The kids could get onto the computer and make their own newspaper.
Because it turned out to be the first warm day (70) that we had experienced since last summer, the kids enjoyed playing in the outside area they have for the kids. When the weather is warm they have water tables set up for the kids!
We had such a wonderful time on our 3 day vacation! What is your favorite Children’s Museum to visit?
