With the season of fireworks right around the corner, what a perfect time to give this recipe for Patriotic Cookies a try! While they may not have the loud factor of the true fireworks, they will definitely have the “wow” factor for anyone who takes a bite.

What I love most about this recipe is that it is made with cream cheese. It’s just one of those ingredients that take these cookies from good to great. And don’t take my word on it. Ask any of my kids as well! They’ll be happy to tell you how much they love these cookies. In fact, they love them so much I can’t keep up with the demand!

In our house, we make these Firework Cookies during other times besides the 4th of July because there is never a wrong time to eat cookies. And when you find a cookie recipe where you love the taste, it’s hard to find reasons to not make them to enjoy, right?

With this delicious recipe, you’re prepared way ahead of the game for your 4th of July festivities. Have fun, relax, whip up a batch or two of these cookies, and use them as a way to share and socialize with your friends during the upcoming holidays.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 350’F.
  2. In the bowl of your stand mixer, add the butter and the sugar, cream until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the cream cheese, egg, and all the extracts.
  4. Mix all together until they are well combined.
  5. Add the salt, baking powder and baking soda over the top and stir in.
  6. Mix flour in gradually until well combined.
  7. Add 1/2 cup of the sprinkles leaving 1/4 of them in a small bowl.
  8. Set the small bowl of sprinkles aside.
  9. Stir sprinkles into the dough gradually.
  10. Line your baking sheet with some parchment paper.
  11. Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop up a ball of dough and roll between your hands into a 2″ ball.
  12. Roll the cookie dough in the sprinkles to coat.
  13. Place on baking sheet.
  14. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  15. Bake for 10 minutes.patriotic cookies

Patriotic Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup red white and blue colored sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F.

  • Add cream cheese, egg and extracts.
  • Mix together until well combined.
  • Add the salt, baking powder and baking soda over top and stir in.
  • Mix in the flour gradually until combined.
  • Add 1/2 cup of your sprinkles leaving the 1/4 left in a small bowl.
  • Set the small bowl to the side.
  • Stir the sprinkles in the dough gradually.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop up a ball of dough and roll between your hands into a 2" ball.

    I love how fun and easy these cookies are. They are perfect for the 4th of July or Memorial Day. You could also adapt them for Canada Day by leaving out the blue sprinkles – or use them for a British summer picnic as they are!
