Elderberry Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup elderberries
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • 4 TBS ginger root
  • 2 tsp Organic Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Organic Ground Cloves
  • 1 cup echinacca root
  • 1 cup Rose Hips
  • 2 cups raw honey we get ours from local farmers

Instructions

  • Pour water and all ingredients except honey into a pan.
  • Bring to boil, turn heat down till you have a gentle boil then cover. Boil for 45 minutes to 1 hours. You want the liquid to be about half of what it originally was.
  • Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Pour through strainer into bowl. I have found a mini strainer from the dollar store works very well to get the smaller pieces out since the holes in it are much smaller then a normal strainer
  • Add raw honey into the cooled liquid, and stir well.
  • Store in mason jars in the fridge.
  • Take 1 tsp daily for children and 1 TBS daily for adults. When illness is starting we take our daily dose every 4 hours until the symptoms are gone.
